Fishing for trout in a relatively shallow stream?

gregb asked:

What is the best way to catch trout in a relatively shallow stream?
What sort of bait or lures should I use?
What other good advice could you share with me?

Thanks a lot

fish in the deep cuts in the bottom with an eggsac with little or no weight depending on the current take extra tackle and bait with you your likly to have to re tye alot but its worth it dont get discouraged you gotta put your time in to get to the real numbers of fish

In a shallow steam the trout look for the best cover for protection and as an ambush spot. Look for under cut banks in a bend of the stream, blow downs or log jams, rock plies or any thing that breaks the current.
Best baits in these spots range from small spinners { Panther Martins} to drifting spawn or worms or crawlers—- to increase your catch use a fluorocarbon leader if the water is very clear, fluorocarbon has the same light refaction as water and is invisible to the fish.
good luck fishing!

Minnows, meal worms, and spinners. like the others said find the breaks and cutbacks

hey greg, fishing in a shallow stream is a great way to catch decent trout.look for were the currend dyes off in the water like behind logs and branches. also look for cover from trees and stuff. a good softplastic that works terrific is a 1” berkley nimph. cast them toward ther logs and current blockers and retreive them with a slow rolling technique.try and look at the liitle bait fish and wat their feeding on. immitate that bait as much as possible try and get away with the lightest jighead as possible if nnot just a hook. hapy fishin :)
