Good god, grow up. Athabasca is more than 250 miles long and more than 400 feet deep. This is not your lake.

To hold a lake trout of this size in the manner you describe would be impossible. Smaller fish fine. Say fish up to 40 lbs but when they get this big that's simply not possible.

You can't hold them like a bass, they have very large and sharp teeth. Very hard to get a hold of in any case.

Sorry you don't approve but the fact is you are looking at a picture that was in fact taken while the fish was being lifted into a better position. Furthermore have you ever handled a large lager? They have monster teeth, very small lower jaw structure and twist like nothing you have ever seen. I did eventually get her under control. The fish was released very soundly. I have caught many lakers over the 45 lb mark and am very much aware of proper handling procedures. But nonetheless, thanks.

Thanks for the complements. She was somewhere around 100 years old and by the estimates based on length and girth by Saskatchewan officials weighed somewhere around 65 lbs.

Early July. The water temps were 50 degrees and the fish was in no more than 14 feet of water.
